Sophia and Kim were renting an apartment, but when Sophia became pregnant with their second child, they needed more space. When family told them their neighbors were looking to sell their house, Sophia and Kim got in touch. Within weeks, this four-bedroom townhouse was theirs.
The house has been theirs for two and a half years, and their family has grown to three children: Louis (6), Leia (2 1/2), and Ville (4 months). The couple renovated every room except the bathroom, and even repainted the floors a lighter color than when they moved in. But the biggest change they've made to the home is adding color. Lots of color. “We repainted the walls. I love color, especially pink and yellow,” Sophia explains. “All the colors I have, I love adding color to the house. … [see] Every room feels connected in some way.”
The couple's main challenges in renovating their home were budget and time.[I]”It took a long time to get it the way I wanted it, but I think that's why it feels so good,” says Sophia.
“The budget wasn’t a specific amount, but rather, there wasn’t enough of it. [a lot] “The money spent on decoration and interior design. The biggest challenge was accepting that it would take time. I always want everything done quickly, but I'm not that patient.”
Ultimately, it's their choice of colors that makes this home one of a kind. “I think every color choice is personal,” she explains when asked what makes this home unique. But it's also the fact that the ceilings are painted “different colors, not white” that gives the home its extraordinary look.
