ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — Audrey's Avenue Kitchen & Bar is a new restaurant in downtown St. Clairsville.
“It's taken us a year and a half to put the idea together and prepare the space for our opening,” says owner Audrey Buller, “but now that we're open, we're excited to bring evening business to St. Clairsville.”
Audrey said she noticed a lot of people were looking for a place to go after work, and she hopes Audrey's Avenue will fill that need.
“Really, my ultimate goal is to help our community and revitalize downtown St. Clairsville,” Brarer said. “I've had a lot of support from other business owners downtown. Working together, we've been able to put on other events.”
Revitalization also involves making the old new: The restaurant's interior reflects some of the history of old St. Clairsville and is intended to bring life back to the space.
“It's an old historic building in downtown St. Clairsville,” she says, “with original hardwood floors, brick, tin ceilings, it's a really beautiful space. The atmosphere is very warm and very fun.”
Audrey's Avenue features a full bar with draft beer and specialty cocktails, as well as a menu of 12 items including baked potatoes and tapas.
“We have a full menu,” Brarer says, “and half of it is tapas, or small plates, which is a bit of a new idea for the area – it's a popular style of dining in bar-restaurants, where you share multiple dishes rather than just eating for yourself.”
This is the third business Brarer has opened in the area – she owns Giacinta's and Bear Necessities Candy and Soda across the street in the Ohio Valley Mall – and she thanks customers for their support and hopes Audrey's Kitchen will strengthen the community.
“It's really a community that we've created among fellow business owners,” Brarer said, “but the support we get from local residents and people who come to our events has been amazing. It really touches our heart when our regulars come out when we're in Jacinta, and we can't wait for that to happen here too.”
Audrey's Avenue Kitchen & Bar is located at 145 E. Main St. It's open Monday through Saturday from 3 to 10 p.m.
