Blackbird Kitchen is an inconspicuous spot serving feast-worthy fare inside Woodlands Tavern, a neighborhood bar located at 1200 W 3rd Ave. I stumbled upon Blackbird Kitchen by chance while attending a friend's comedy show in 2021 and was blown away by its diverse and vibrant menu.
The menu is small and the kitchen even smaller, but they make the most of that small space by creating amazing food that's full of flavor. The main menu has four appetizers and seven mains, and they have some very creative specials. Past specials have included the Mediterranean Chicken Wrap, Shrimp Toast, and Grilled Eggplant with Burrata Sauce. My go-to dishes from the daily specials are:
Traditional Wings: Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Seasoned with our fantastic house sauces or special dry rub. Choose from Spicy Garlic, Alabama White or Dry Rub. Served with crispy potato wedges drizzled with rosemary sea salt. On Sundays, these wings are a great deal at just $1 each.

Crunchwrap: An artisanal take on a Taco Bell classic, the tostada is stuffed with rice, cheese, pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, red pepper aioli and birria, and is served with a choice of smoked chicken or black beans.
Flat Top Smash Burger: Double or triple burger patty, served on a brioche bun, with house-made dill pickles, thinly sliced onions and American cheese. On Wednesdays, you can enjoy this delicious burger for just $6.
Crispy Birria Tacos: Perfectly cooked birria tacos served with a rich and hearty consommé, two types of sauce, fresh lime and carrots. Loaded with meat and cheese, these tacos are delicious on their own, but they're even better with a squeeze of fresh lime and a splash of consommé to dip them in.
Atomic fireball: Homemade macaroni and cheese balls deep fried and smothered in sauce. They taste absolutely amazing and are only $4 every Thursday.
Blackbird Kitchen is open Monday through Thursday from 4 PM to 10 PM, Friday from 4 PM to 11 PM, Saturday from 1 PM to 11 PM, and Sunday from 1 PM to 8 PM. The food is great, and Woodlands Tavern offers live music performances, comedy, and other fun events, such as the 7/14 Kanin Wren's – Taylor Swift Experience. They also have a great draft beer selection, cocktails, and a pool table. We're eager to soar like blackbirds and discover more of Columbus' hidden gems. Where should we fly to next?
