Police said the robber was shot and killed inside the residence early Monday after the homeowner woke up and her husband confronted him in the kitchen.
The shooting was reported around 2:30 a.m. at a home near 24th Street and Sheridan Road.
The Tulsa Police Department said in a Facebook post that the homeowners were awakened by noises coming from the back door, and when the husband went to investigate, “they were surprised to find a burglar in the kitchen. The homeowners were unaware of the intruder and did not have permission to enter the home,” the post said.
The homeowner shot and killed the man, who then fled with items he had stolen from the home before collapsing in the backyard, according to the report.
Police say responding officers found the burglary suspect in the backyard with burglary tools and valuables stolen during the burglary.
