Sometimes there's just too much cheese.
California Pizza Kitchen responded to a takeout mistake by offering great deals to all customers.
A TikTok user shared why they ordered CPK's mac and cheese: “I'm having a bad week.” [her] Life was “life,” but when she opened her meal, only cheese.
“I was hurt and I'd just broken up with my boyfriend, so I went to California Pizza Kitchen and ordered mac and cheese,” she said in the video, which has been viewed 3.7 million times, “and all they sent me was cheese. No mac, just cheese. No noodles.”
She looked through the rest of the bag to see that the noodles were not separately wrapped and there was no cheese to be found.
“Are you kidding me? I'm going to cry,” she cried.
When the user called the restaurant, two employees told him his order was wrong and that he should order the noodles separately.
Naturally, the video went viral, and CPK responded by sending users care packages containing cheese-free pasta and a certificate for free macaroni and cheese. and Free pizza for a year.
The restaurant chain also released a hilarious video featuring a “PSA on how to make CPK mac and cheese the right way,” which has been viewed 9.6 million times.
In the video, Chef Paul Przybylski, CPK's senior director of culinary development, says he plans to send the video out far and wide to make sure “everyone knows the correct procedures.”
He says step one is cooking the cheese, step two is cooking the macaroni (“don't forget that”), and step three is adding the macaroni to the cheese.
Przybylski ended the video by saying they want to take care of their guests and are offering new plans for everyone.
“We were recently able to offer a customer half a bag of mac and cheese, so starting today and for the rest of the month, we're offering all of our customers half-price mac and cheese,” he declared.
