The Duke and Duchess of Sussex proved they're just a normal couple in a clip from the Netflix series “Harry & Meghan.”
The couple lived in Frogmore Cottage, which was a gift from Prince Harry's late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, when they married in 2018.
Wearing a pink ribbed knit dress, Meghan sat at a table charging her phone and getting her nails done — a more realistic sight than you might expect, given that members of the royal family likely have their own beauty team on hand to help them out.
Prince Harry stood nearby, wearing blue trousers and a white shirt, eating yogurt.
In the background, the couple's modest kitchen was visible. The room was decorated with herringbone wooden floors and white walls, and in the center of the room was a rustic wooden island unit with a white worktop. Three lights hung above the island, and there were several wooden stools where the couple could entertain their guests.
The oven is just out of view, but its presence was revealed in another photo taken after the Mountbatten Music Festival, a special evening to raise funds for the Royal Marines Association.
The event took place in 2020, just two months after it was revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan had decided to step back as senior royals.
For the occasion, Meghan was decked out in a vibrant red calf-length gown by Safia, while Prince Harry was in military fatigues. Meghan took off her cape and sat on the kitchen counter to kiss her husband, who had removed his jacket.
Harry and Meghan's time at Frogmore
Harry wrote about his thoughts about Windsor House in his autobiography, “Spare.”
“We loved the place,” Harry wrote, “from the first moment. It felt as if we were destined to live there. We couldn't wait to get up in the morning, go for long walks in the gardens and meet the swans – especially cranky Steve.”
“We met the Queen's gardeners and learned their names and the names of all the flowers. They were thrilled that we appreciated and admired their artistry.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially moved out of the four-bedroom residence on June 29, 2023, after relocating to the United States to raise Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The couple had paid back £2.4 million in renovations and rent for the cottage.
Palace officials said at the annual Royal Grant briefing that the Grade II-listed royal property at Windsor Home Park would not have any new tenants.
A palace official told the briefing: “Frogmore Cottage has remained empty this year and at this stage we do not believe it is possible to speculate as to who the future occupants of the cottage may be.”
He added: “When Frogmore Cottage was originally offered to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex the renovation costs were fully reimbursed by the Royal Grant so there are no Royal Grant costs beyond routine maintenance, which any building would require.”
