Brushed gold fixtures and accents can give your modern kitchen or bathroom a designer look. Warmer than chrome, gold is soft and luxurious at the same time. Though this metal has become more on-trend in recent years, it remains a durable and classic choice. And there's no rule that says it has to be gold only when incorporating gold into your space.
“It's perfectly fine to mix metals in any room,” explains designer Valerie Darden in her book, Beautiful Living, due out in October 2024. That said, avoid mixing metals that look similar. “Brass and gold are just too similar in appearance,” Darden explains. “They can clash if you put them together in a room.” Instead, try pairing gold with stainless steel, one of her favorite metal combinations, and it's especially great in the kitchen.
Some of these gold accents are inexpensive updates that a DIYer can install in an hour, while others are more permanent (and more expensive) options that require professional installation. See how easy it is to give your space a luxurious look, no matter your budget.
