HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – As the weekly Kitchen Cops inspections wrap up, inspectors across North Alabama appear to be encountering very similar issues.
DeKalb County
South End Market on Galt Street had numerous critical violations that dropped its score to 80. Inspectors found cockroaches in the kitchen and prep area and rat droppings on the floor baseboards. There were also pots blocking the hand-washing sink, a cutting board blocking the triple sink and cockroaches in both sinks. Additionally, there was no hot water in the kitchen, making it impossible for staff to wash and sanitize dishes.
DeKalb County Scores and Inspection Reports
Lauderdale County
306 Barbeque on North Court Street in Florence received the lowest score in Lauderdale County this week with an 82. Food was kept past the seven-day discard deadline, the ice machine was dirty and chicken wings weren't the right temperature.
The McDonald's on Cloverdale Road is rated 85 because of dirty plates and no timestamps on food.

Limestone County
GP Quick Stop on Highway 72 in Athens had a septic tank cover that wasn't tight and mold growing in the ice machine. It has an 84 rating.
Tanner Chevron on Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road received an 85-point rating for dirty soda nozzles, using undiluted bleach to clean cutting boards and not serving food at the right temperature.
Limestone County Scores and Inspection Reports
Madison County
Little Libby's Catfish in Madison received the lowest score in north Alabama this week with a score of 70 points. Inspectors said the store had no paper towels at its hand-washing sinks. Additionally, the restrooms had no hot water, the ice maker had pink residue, food containers were dirty and several foods were the wrong temperature. Kitchen Cops also witnessed employees preparing food with bare hands and not washing their hands before working.
Petro South Food Mart on University Drive near Arctic Circle in Huntsville received a score of 83. Inspectors noted numerous flies and cockroaches in the kitchen and a lack of paper towels in the bathrooms and kitchen.
Agave & Rye in Bridge Street received an 85 this week due to food temperature issues.
Jersey Mike's on Whiteburg Drive also received an 85 in the latest inspection for food temperature issues, employees who were not food safety certified and a lack of paper towels in the restrooms.
Madison County Scores and Inspection Reports
Morgan County
The Chevron on 6th Street just before the bridge received a score of 81 this week due to unlabeled toxic chemicals, evidence of rat activity and improperly heated pizza and chicken sandwiches.
The Beltline Popeyes received an 82. Inspectors found mold in the ice machine and soda nozzles, and chicken tenders weren't served at the right temperature.
Big Bob Gibson's on Danville Road had improperly stored medicines and a dirty drink nozzle and can opener, resulting in an 83.
Captain D's on the Beltline received a score of 84, one point higher, due to food temperature issues, mold in the ice bin and a broken wire in the fryer basket.
