A recent fire at the original Fresh Kitchen location on South Howard Avenue, a beloved part of Tampa Bay's dining scene, has led to the restaurant closing its doors, with more closures likely to follow.
Known for its gluten-free dishes, Fresh Kitchen opened its first restaurant in the historic Howard House nearly 10 years ago. Since then, the restaurant has become a popular spot for health-conscious diners, known for dishes such as sweet potato noodles, crispy almond chicken, roasted sweet potatoes and their famous gluten-free chocolate chip cookies.
Fresh Kitchen released a heartfelt message in response to the fire: “We are truly saddened to share that our Fresh Kitchen Soho location was hit by a fire early this morning. No team members or guests were in the building and we are incredibly grateful that no one was injured. We are still processing this in our minds and hearts, but our focus is making sure our team feels supported during this difficult time.”
Fresh Kitchen has locations throughout Tampa Bay and Central Florida.
They further elaborated on the future of the SoHo store, stating, “Our SoHo store will remain permanently closed while we explore ways to rebuild our iconic flagship store. We invite all our fans to visit us at our West Shore store. Thank you for your concern and sharing your love for us. SoHo will remain forever strong.”
To help get patrons through these challenging times, the Fresh Kitchen team is directing them to their Westshore location at 4616 W Kennedy Blvd. Having successfully expanded throughout Tampa Bay, the company remains committed to giving back to the community and maintaining the high standards that local restaurants have come to love.
