Aldi shoppers are a passionate bunch, and their fans love to share their finds with the world (or at least on Facebook), and we love to see it — otherwise we'd have no way of knowing what the best deals are, or whether a particular snack product is in-stock or better yet, left on the shelf.
In recent social media posts, Aldi customers have been raving about an item that makes one of the most frustratingly difficult tasks in the kitchen so much easier. The task? Cooking rice. Why is this dinnertime chore so difficult for so many of us?
We've all been there: You follow the instructions to the letter, add the right amount of rice and water, and yet for some reason the rice ends up soggy or sticking to the bottom of the pot.

Fans love Aldi's rice cooker
“Wow this rice cooker from ALDI is amazing,” someone posted in a Facebook group along with a photo.
The post received numerous compliments from other satisfied shoppers, who said the gadget has become a go-to in their own homes too.
“I love this product!! So many features! Cooks perfect rice every time!” one user wrote.
“I've been using this for 2 years and it's absolutely amazing. I'm terrible at cooking rice but this cooks it perfectly every time,” added another.
“Yes, it’s great. [had] “It's been almost five years now,” raved another.
“I bought this about a year ago. It works great and holds a lot of rice,” said another satisfied consumer.
Apparently, the rice cooker can be used for a variety of dishes other than rice, and other dishes made with this rice cooker are also being shared.
“I love mine. It's at least four years old and I use it multiple times a week. It cooks rice, pasta, soups, puddings and cakes fantastically.”
Others have said they can make dumplings (delicious) and steamed veggies in their rice cooker without any issues.
How long does the Aldi rice cooker take?
Among the comments such as “Best purchase ever” and “I love it so much I have a spare unit” were some concerns that the product may be a little slow.
“I have this and I love it. My husband complains that it takes too long. Honestly it's a little slow, but once you get used to the frame you know how much time to allocate. It cooks perfectly though,” explained one person.
“Is the new version faster than the old one? I have the old version and it's great but it's slow,” commented another user.
“I love ours! It takes longer than others but it's been a year now and is thriving. We bought ours last year,” added another shopper.
For reference, the Aldi rice cooker takes 20-30 minutes to cook 4-5 cups of rice, which doesn't seem like a terrible time to me, but I guess it varies from person to person.
How big is the Aldi rice cooker?
Another question raised in the chat was the size of the units and whether they'll take up a lot of space. According to one shopper, they're pretty big (she provided a photo for reference), so if you're short on bench space, this might not be for you.

But overall, the praise for this handy gadget has been overwhelmingly positive, and honestly, I'm loving anything that eliminates the need to carefully scrape burnt rice off the bottom of the pan.
