This survey is packed with information on popular design trends, from open-concept layouts and high-tech appliances to popular cabinet materials and lighting inspiration.

More and more homeowners are looking to make their kitchens more open spaces. According to the report, 64% of homeowners renovating are choosing a completely open-concept kitchen, meaning there are no walls separating the kitchen from an adjacent room. The most frequently cited reasons for creating open-concept spaces were increased functionality (64 percent) and enhanced entertainment capabilities (54 percent).
large-scale structural construction
While many kitchen remodels focus on changing the style of the room, many makeovers involve extensive structural work. Among homeowners who renovate, 45% are updating their kitchen layout and 43% are upgrading their systems. These changes include things like changing ceiling heights and rebuilding floors.
high tech appliances
According to the report, homeowners are choosing home appliances with high-tech features. Approximately 30 percent of homeowners renovating choose appliances with Wi-Fi connectivity, and 29 percent choose models that can be controlled with a smartphone or tablet. Additionally, most homeowners (54%) prefer to replace all appliances during a renovation, rather than just a few.
Treatment according to age
Among owners who renovate their homes to accommodate special kitchen needs, the most common reason is to accommodate the needs of aging household members. Kitchen adjustments for age include pull-out cabinets (58 percent), additional lighting (54 percent), wider drawer pulls (48 percent), non-slip flooring (37 percent), and round countertops. (34 percent).
backsplash renovation
The report notes that many homeowners are choosing to replace their kitchen backsplash during a remodel, an increase of two percentage points over last year. Currently, the most popular backsplash material is ceramic or porcelain tile (54%), followed by engineered quartz (11%). However, homeowners are also choosing natural stones such as marble (9%), quartzite (6%), and granite (4%).
big islands
Many homeowners choose to extend their kitchen island because it gives them more space to prepare meals and entertain friends and family. According to the report, 42% of homeowners who renovate their kitchen islands are 7 feet or taller.
pop cabinet color
Expect to see more color in your kitchen this year, especially when it comes to cabinetry. Although white continues to be the most common cabinet color, wooden and green kitchen cabinets are also on the rise. In fact, wood tones are the most common choice for lower cabinets, followed by blue, which continues to be the top choice for island cabinets.
Other storage solutions
Organization is becoming a top priority as people want a kitchen that is convenient for them. Features such as cookie sheet organizers (55 percent), spice racks (44 percent), and cutlery and utensil organizers (41 percent and 37 percent, respectively) are becoming more popular.
recessed lighting
Lighting sets the tone for your kitchen. For remodeling homeowners, recessed lighting continues to be the leading choice for remodeled kitchens, with 75% of homeowners choosing it. Under-cabinet lights are also popular (69%), and pendant lights are preferred by more than half of homeowners (56%).
