The family photo may have helped allay concerns and questions about the Duchess, but new questions then surfaced as viewers noticed irregularities in the image. And now the princess has admitted that the photo she published on Sunday was doctored.
“Like many amateur photographers, I also experiment with editing from time to time,” the princess said. he said on social media on Monday.. “We would like to apologize for any confusion caused by the family photo we shared yesterday.”
The doctored photo was recognized after several news agencies retracted the photo. For example, the Associated Press noted that “the position of Princess Charlotte's left hand and sweater sleeve is odd,” and said, “Upon closer inspection, it appears that the source manipulated the image.”
The photo, released on Mother's Day in the UK, shows Kate sitting in a chair and hugging her children – Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and Prince George. In her post, Duchess Kate said it was her husband Prince William who took her photo.
Kate wrote, “Thank you very much for your warm wishes and continued support over the past two months.''
The cheerful image seemed to suggest that the princess is healthy and happy since she virtually disappeared from public view in late December. Kensington Palace has released few details about the 42-year-old Duchess Kate, who she said remained in hospital for nearly two weeks after her “successful” abdominal surgery in January.
But then questions arose and the rumor evolved into a complete retraction. In discussing the photo, the Associated Press noted that its photographic standards prohibit extensive editing of images or the removal of the “red-eye” effect.
