Virgil Abloh remains as busy as ever. Having recently announced the release of the “GHOSTING” Converse Chuck 70, the Off-White™ designer is about to unveil a full collection with Swedish furniture brand IKEA.
The much-anticipated product line, dubbed MARKERAD, is created specifically for millennials and features a range of homeware products that blend IKEA's approachable furniture design with Virgil's signature aesthetic. This release includes the Persian-inspired “KEEP OFF” rug that was first seen during her Periscope livestream session in October 2017. Another hand-scraped red rug has the word “BLUE” playfully written on it.
The opening, which the media was invited to, also featured items such as the reimagined SCULPTURE FRACKTA tote bag that the duo first unveiled last summer, as well as wooden chairs, triangular doorstops, and several glass-door cabinet units. I did. Notably, Virgil's new white and black Nike Air Presto sneakers are neatly displayed on a glass shelf. Featuring a wooden frame, the cabinet is rounded off with bold red nail-shaped handles. Currently, all products are still in the prototype stage. Stay tuned here for more updates on the collaboration series.
Just recently, Virgil hosted a livestream in collaboration with IKEA to show fans what they can expect from the project. Please keep an eye on us in the future.
