Even though 2024 is only three months away, designers have identified natural wood kitchens as one of this year's most important trends. This style takes things back to basics and celebrates a more traditional (and almost retro) aesthetic that prioritizes rawness and sustainability over ephemeral color trends.
We've seen a number of exciting twists on the wood kitchen cabinet trend in celebrity homes in recent weeks, but Shania Twain is the latest to (unintentionally) capitalize on the movement. This is a person.
The singer gave a glimpse of the wooden cabinet and black countertop combo during a house tour while packing for her Las Vegas residency. And while we were inevitably enjoying a tour of her abode, the trendy kitchen cabinets stole almost all of our attention.
The wood kitchens seen in Twain's space are becoming increasingly popular among celebrities and designers, alongside the likes of Zendaya and Jennifer Aniston (just to name a few). The latter suggests that these natural shades are the new “white kitchen.” Andrea Sinkin of Andrea Sinkin Design is one of those celebrating his increasingly popular kitchen trend.
“Incorporating wood tones in the kitchen is a natural transition from the all-white kitchens we've loved for the past 20 years. A kitchen is a big investment, so it's a place you don't want to make too much of a statement. Timeless. It’s important to stay neutral,” notes Sinkin.
Twain chose a mahogany-like wood for her kitchen, but each shade of wood has its own unique qualities.
“Bleached oak has been on the movement for the past five years and will continue to do so. It also works well on floors with colored stains,” says Sinkin.
Alternatively, dark kitchen cabinets like Twain's are a traditional way to bring this look into your home.
“Recent changes have introduced mahogany and darker wood tones in kitchen cabinetry. White oak is still beautiful and here to stay, but if you want a more traditional look, Consider choosing dark wood tones,” says Sinkin.
“If you choose this method, pay special attention to accents so your kitchen doesn't look like a log cabin. Accent can be an island, some strategically placed upper cabinet doors, or It can be a whole section that is not connected to the whole.
White kitchens are still in fashion, but wood tones evoke a sense of warmth and space and, when done well, can still form the basis of a luxurious kitchen. ”
In 2017, Andrea founded Andrea Sinkin Design, finally bringing her twin passions of fashion and design into the homes of her clients. She has a fundamental understanding of textiles, color, floor plans, and design, and she truly loves her collaborative relationships with her clients.
