The interior design company will be running a pop-up furniture shop for the next three days.
Interiors Etc., located at 3201 S. Prairie Ave., has been owned by Mary Kelly since 1975. She owns the Park Ridge Galleria and eightNumber She worked at & Railroad Center but left retail about 10 years ago to focus on design services.
Her son, Richard, had recently joined the business after returning from Minnesota, where he worked as a buyer for a furniture store on the East Coast, and the two came up with the idea of doing pop-up shops.
“We're not normally open to the public,” Richard Kelly said, “We do have customers come in, but we bought stock specifically for this three-day event.”
The event will run from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday, June 22nd, 10am to 6pm on Friday, and 10am to 6pm on Saturday.
The inventory includes a wide range of furniture and home décor items, including “pillows, throws, coffee tables, design studio sofas, beautiful kitchen islands, vases, lamps, artwork and flowers,” he said.
He says the style is quite trendy and the price is affordable.
“We have glass vases that are $6, but we also have kitchen islands that are $1,600,” he says. “Some of the things in our studio don't necessarily have a price tag on them, and they're higher quality.”
The Kellys are planning many more pop-up events this year, but want to wait to see how the first one turns out.
“If it's successful, we'll continue to do it,” Kelly said. “When I put the word out, I got a response that people were excited about it.”
