First, clean the jug and cut it approximately in the middle to create the hinge opening. Remove the cap for ventilation and cut a hole in the bottom for drainage. Add a few inches of moist potting soil and plant.
“All you have to do is sow the seeds in the soil and pat the seeds,” said the author. “…don’t forget to secure the container with tape or wire and date and label it before taking it outside to a sunny location.”
Once the seedling has a second leaf, it can be planted in a larger pot or in the ground.
How does it help?
“This is amazing!!!” said one user.
Growing your own food is a healthy way to save money, as community gardeners engage in physical activity and consume more fiber than non-gardeners.
It can also improve mental health and reduce the production of pollution by reducing the demand for agricultural products shipped around the world. The benefits range from reducing stress and increasing optimism to providing a better environment for plants and animals and increasing biodiversity.
There are endless things you can make with your own produce, and they're delicious. Try stir-frying bean sprouts with tofu or onions to enhance homemade refried beans.
