EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — Staff at Spc. Rafael Hernando III Middle School confiscated a kitchen knife from a student today.
The school's principal said administrators received a report that a student had a knife in the classroom. Campus security confiscated the knife and the student is currently “dealing with it.”
Socorro ISD officials provided ABC-7 with records of phone calls Principal Valerie Hairston made to parents after the seizure. Read the full transcript below.
“Hello, this is Valerie Hairston, principal of Rafael Hernando III Middle School. I am calling to let you know that a knife was seized from a student at our school today. We have reported to the administration that a student was in possession of a knife. Campus administrators and security have recovered the item and are working with the student. Parents are advised not to bring prohibited items to school. Thank you for your continued support of Hernando Middle School and our school. This is team SISD. ”
