For designers who want to evoke a sartorial expression of “quiet luxury” through their interiors, adding sculptural objects to the minimalist palette is essential. It's an object that catches the eye, shines like a jewel, and nods to understated sophistication. Why not capture a moment of chic tension in a kitchen or bathroom where functionality is important? Yes, No-With a radical faucet?
This is a bold proposal from an unexpected source. His TONI Copenhagen, Denmark's oldest manufacturer of kitchen and bathroom equipment, was founded on a 105-year-old traditional craft and is known for its thoroughly traditional products. The last time he introduced a new faucet line was in 1985. Now, DÉCA is here to “rock the boat” as today's new icon designed by progressive global architect BIG, says his creative director Bjarke Vind.
Bridging tradition and modernity
The modular system of single-handle faucets for bathrooms and kitchens to be presented at 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen (12-14 June 2024) features a simple mounting nut and a grip with 10 edges that connect to the Forged monolithic, precise shape with brass spout. A unique activation that shatters preconceptions. “This is the most architectural faucet I've ever seen,” says Vind. “The function of a faucet has remained unchanged for 100 years, but here the body and handle merge in a unified, holistic and sculptural way never seen before. It is innovative.”
The magic lies in BIG's visionary approach at a scale that imagines 3D printing on the moon and ski slopes in power plants, and TONI's artisanal tradition rooted in the detailed precision of 19th century sanitary ware. This is an unlikely combination. “There is a very interesting energy in this distance. Our history and heritage are not our destiny. That is why we dared to ask BIG to interpret the icon.” Vind explains.
Attractive versatility
As a result, DÉCA stands out in the market for careful joinery and joinery designed to harmonize and homogenize. “I have always thought of his TONI faucet as a jewel to add to a modest wardrobe,” says Vind. “This faucet has the same ability to attract light and attention and enhance your design vision.” This captivating quality allows TONI, for the first time, to be framed and shined from a prestigious and traditional setting. Moving towards bold, minimalist contemporary interiors, we are now able to take on projects (thanks to DÉCA's competitive pricing).
As an important touchpoint in everyday life, this gemstone is polished to the highest quality in our Fredericksburg factory using proven methods used since 1918. Easy to install and maintain, this system includes four handles and six bodies, giving you a vast array of options. , as well as brass, chrome, nickel and brown brass surface options, with custom finishes available, all hand polished by professional grinders. Like the door handle, the handle is designed to be comfortable to grab and hold, Vind said, and has the same strength and purpose as the “SP” faucets that were widely installed in Danish hospitals in the 20th century. Masu.
Like SP, which can be described as both “industrial” and the “Rolls-Royce” of faucets, DÉCA's radical nature lies in its contrasts. A handcrafted product with a jewel, a door handle, an architectural presence, that's what makes it so iconic. “We made a rule that you can't touch the classics. They're timeless and off-limits,” Vind says. “But this is a new contemporary expression, a reinterpretation of the virtues on which TONI is built, translated into a new design for today.”
