Ten days after expanding its footprint in Northampton County, a home decor store has announced plans to close its original location.
Abode Home Decor, which offers “rustic yet modern home decor and furniture,” will close its two-year-old store at 27 E. Belvidere St. in downtown Nazareth on June 25 at 4 p.m. .
Abode will open its second location June 3 at 131 N. Third St. in downtown Easton, which will be Abode's only location.
In a video posted to Abode's Facebook page, co-owner Krista Lichtenberger said the Nazareth store was the company's first brick-and-mortar store, where she met and became friends with many local shoppers. He described the move as “really bittersweet.”
Lichtenberger and her husband, Brian, decided to move primarily because they had a lot on their plate and wanted to find balance with their family.
“If you've been to the store and know me, you know that I work full time as a nurse, have three kids and a busy family, and try to run two businesses. “Yes,” Lichtenberger said in the video.
Starting Thursday, Nazareth stores will be offering 30% off all Amish display furniture and an “Make an Offer” sale.
While visiting Abode's new location in downtown Easton, Mr. Lichtenberger encouraged individuals to continue supporting the great Nazareth company.
“We still want to help you with your home decorating dreams. We want to do more,” she said in the video. “I promise. You won't miss it.”
In Easton, Abode filled the space previously occupied by Twice Chic Boutique, an upscale consignment store selling clothing, shoes and accessories.
Lichtenberger said the new store will have a “larger, more beautiful space” with a larger selection of products, including more furniture and lighting options. There are also sections dedicated to live plants and pets.
“We’re also looking at a locally produced section,” Lichtenberger said. “We also have some local artisans that we work with, and we wanted to give them more space and offer more unique items made right here in the Lehigh Valley.”
Lichtenberger, of Bushkill Township, said she is excited to join Easton's downtown business community and said the store is “very special” to her, having grown up in Easton.
“What actually brought us to Easton was that we were set up at Easton Winter Village and we had a really great experience there,” Lichtenberger said.
The Easton store features Abode's rustic yet modern home decor, including lamps, shelving, cushions, signage and wall art, wood crafts, vases, flower pots, platters, tableware, soap dispensers, and holiday and seasonal items. We have all items and furniture. item.
Handcrafted pieces are sourced from suppliers across the country, including wooden wall decorations from merchants in Kentucky and Wisconsin and local wreaths from Bangor artisans.
“We also offer monthly do-it-yourself nights, which are very popular,” Lichtenberger said. “We do everything from cupcake decorating to wreath making, and that continues in Easton.”
Lichtenberger is also considering expanding the business further in the future.
“I have big dreams [Abode]”Eventually, we would like to offer home services, interior design and home organization,” Lichtenberger said.
