It's no secret that AI is influencing nearly every aspect of modern life, from how we search the internet to how we write poetry. And now, kitchen appliances are no exception. Brands that want to stay on the forefront of technology are incorporating artificial intelligence and machine learning into their home stoves, ovens, grills, and toasters. These four brands are at the forefront when it comes to AI-powered kitchen products.
LG
LG Electronics has been making tech-rich appliances like stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers and microwaves for decades. In recent years, the brand has placed a strong emphasis on energy efficiency, with some of the AI features in its latest products designed to help home cooks reduce their energy usage.
For example, the Smart Induction Slide-in Range comes equipped with a cookware compatibility indicator. When users place cookware such as pans or pots on the range's heating element, the stove evaluates the compatibility of the cookware with the heating element, reducing heat loss and speeding up the cooking process for home-cooked meals.
Many of LG's appliances can be synced via Bluetooth with the brand's ThinQ app, allowing users to remotely monitor food and adjust cooking settings as needed. Users can also use the app to scan the barcode of eligible prepared foods and have their LG microwave or oven heat the food automatically.
GE
According to Rachel Schwartz, executive director of built-in cooking at GE Appliances, GE is focused on using AI to enhance its appliance portfolio. “Artificial intelligence offers the potential to transform everyday life at home,” she said. “Our goal is to make technology so intuitive and efficient that it blends seamlessly into everyday life. We're already using AI as a tool to enhance our products and cooking experiences.”
High-tech functionality meets style in appliances like the Matte White Built-In Top Control Dishwasher. Built-in WiFi and the brand's SmartHQ app allow users to control, monitor and update their dishwasher on the go. A customizable top rack and silverware basket provide space for a variety of tableware, including stemware and straws. Sensors and intelligent machine learning give this appliance an edge among the best dishwashers. Data is collected after every cycle, improving efficiency and performance over time.
Samsung
In April, home appliance giant Samsung unveiled an expanded line of Bespoke AI appliances with virtual design tools to add personality to the look and personalized choices for features of appliances such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves and microwaves.
The Bespoke 4-Door Flex Fridge with AI Family Hub makes grocery shopping and meal planning easy as it comes equipped with an internal camera that tracks fridge inventory, identifies commonly used items, and generates an inventory list at any time. It also provides recipe ideas based on the ingredients you have on hand. Other options for the Bespoke fridge include custom doors printed with your own photos or designs, and a variety of colors in glossy, matte and metallic finishes.
Brava
The Brava Smart Oven is a powerful, compact countertop cooker that uses AI to cook up to three different foods at once. With a multitude of cooking modes to choose from, including roast, bake, dehydrate, air fry and slow cook, the countertop oven also features a built-in camera so you can see your food's progress from anywhere using your smartphone, and it uses three highly accurate temperature sensors to stop cooking at the desired doneness. The compatible app is packed with thousands of recipes that you can quickly program into the oven, making dinner prep hassle-free and stress-free.
