(NewsNation) — Ben Grant wants us to know about a colleague who died at World Central Kitchen.
“They are the best representatives of humanity,” said Grant, who heads the Gaza mission for the Global Empowerment Mission, another food aid organization.
Following the Israeli attack that killed seven WCK personnel, Grant and his team, along with other relief groups, withdrew to Cairo.
“Right now, aid organizations are shutting down, and that's creating a huge gap,” he told NewsNation's “The Elizabeth Vargas Report.”
And what about returning to Gaza?
“Of course,” he said. “We are currently preparing a new convoy ahead of schedule. I look forward to returning to the field. I do not want all my friends to die in vain. We will continue to act in their place. Masu.”
His friend's death is very difficult to digest, he says, “but it doesn't take away the fact that there are still over three million people who died trying to save them.”
Grant said there is always fear in entering a combat zone, but he hopes the attack and the remorse from Israel will prompt changes that will allow people to get help in a safer and more efficient manner. He said he was there.
And Mr Grant said he welcomed any political pressure to help aid workers in Gaza.
“It's absolutely necessary.”
