Amy's Kitchen Enchilada Verde Whole Meal is being recalled for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination because it was made with Rizzo Lopez Foods cheese, according to a notice on the Publix website. Some Rizzo-Lopez products have been linked to a deadly Listeria monocytogenes outbreak that has sickened at least 26 people in 11 states and left 23 hospitalized. Two people, who lived in California and Texas, were killed. To date, the company has no reports of illnesses related to consumption of this product. The recall company is Amy's Kitchen.
The recall is based on Rizzo-Lopez's notification to Amy's Kitchen of the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the cheese used to make the meals. No other Amy's Kitchen products or lots are involved in this recall.
The recalled item is Amy's Kitchen Enchilada verde Whole Meal with GTIN number 4227200085. The expiration dates for this item are his 4/24, 8/24, and 10/24. The recall notice did not include any photos of the recalled products.
If you have purchased this product, do not eat it, even if fully reheated, due to the possibility of cross-contamination. You can dispose of the item in a secure bin with a tight-fitting lid or take it back to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
