The Arkhamverse is officially back. Batman: Arkham Shadowsa prequel developed by Camouflaj and exclusive to Meta Quest 3. Two cinematic trailers have been released so far, with gameplay due next month, but the game itself is due to launch this fall, so there isn't much time left until launch. Batman: Arkham Shadows It will be worn on the player's hand, as well as on their face for an immersive experience in VR.
This is refreshing because each trailer features both overt and subtle references to villains from Batman's mythology, and the Arkhamverse is packed with references to super-criminals who have yet to be depicted in the game.

Arkham ShadowThe movie story trailer includes: Anime series A Lockup reference was pointed out by Camouflage's Ryan Payton in a recent Q&A video, which strongly suggests that Lyle Bolton's Lockup may actually appear as an antagonist, along with other villains who may owe a debt to Easter eggs, but Camouflage may be considering when to cut back on the number of characters they include.

Arkham Shadow The film will apparently depict Dr. Harleen Quinzel transforming into Harley Quinn, but it's unclear if she'll be a legitimate boss fight. Similarly, the Rat King is a unique entity separate from Ratcatcher, but it's unclear if he's a real person, as his camouflage makes him purposefully mute.
Either way, throwing in a bunch of other characters like Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, Ratcatcher, Rat King, and Two-Face could bog down the game if they aren't given the space to shine. Arkham Shadow Not only does this title tug on a thread the Arkhamverse has left dangling for nearly 15 years, it also brings a relatively obscure antagonist from DC mythology to the forefront for the first time in the Arkhamverse.

Professor Hugo Strange from 2016 is also relatively unknown, and while the Joker reappears once again as the true main villain, he's essentially a superficial nuisance, and even Ra's al Ghul doesn't get a chance to have a proper role.
Ratcatcher at least Arkham ShadowHis marketing at this point has gone a long way towards solidifying his importance to the story, but it's nice to see an iconic villain from the Arkhamverse pop up again and again, especially if they're beloved and have appeared in previous titles. Arkham In the game, Camouflaj takes a big risk in accidentally obscuring the supposed main villain.
Batman: Arkham Shadow shouldn't bloat its tighter VR story
Camouflage's Ryan Payton said: Arkham Shadow Longer Marvel Iron Man VR Rocksteady Arkham Asylumwhich seems very ambitious. To go that long would require a large number of enemies for Batman to overpower, but taking down too many at once could backfire. Apart from a few in-game screenshots, very little will be revealed until some gameplay is revealed in August.
With any luck, Gamescom will provide some deeper insight into how the game will play out and how players will navigate Gotham City, not to mention what the boss fights will be like. You need to make sure your opponents are adequate and cohesive. Batman: Arkham Shadows At the same time, resist the urge to cram in as many characters as possible.
