Jason White has been waiting almost a year for a custom outdoor kitchen from Premier Outdoor USA. He turned to the Ask Anthony team for help.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two St. Johns County military families thought they had the outdoor kitchen of their dreams, but they say everything turned into a nightmare.
One family paid thousands of dollars and never received a kitchen, and another family said their kitchen didn't work. The company says it is not at fault and blames the customer and the manufacturer.
Jason White has been waiting almost a year for his custom outdoor kitchen. He turned to the Ask Anthony team for help.
“They said 12 to 16 weeks,” Jason White told Anthony Austin.
He signed a contract with Premier Outdoor USA on Phillips Highway in Jacksonville in May 2023.
“We had a Super Bowl party recently, and we were expecting a grill by then. For Thanksgiving, we were expecting a grill by then… and there was nothing,” White said. said.
Mr. White paid about 70% of the purchase price of about $13,000 in May. Four months have passed and he says he hasn't heard anything from the company.
So he started asking questions, but didn't get any clear answers.
“We were told we needed to have the grill ready for use by January. All components are working fine, but to this day…nothing,” White added. .
This isn't the first time the Ask Anthony team has received complaints about Premier Outdoor USA. In October, Patricia Wells contacted Anthony Austin about an issue with her $18,000 outdoor kitchen.
Wells bought the kitchen in July. She said there were cracks and broken tiles, the grill and burner lights didn't work, and the interior was damaged during shipping.
“It's all cracked on the bottom and parts are missing,” Patricia Wells explained as she showed Anthony the damage.
Wells said she was told the kitchen grill could be converted to natural gas, but that wasn't the case. She said Premier Outdoor has solved some of the problems, but not all of them. Wells called the company and she told them to come pick it up. But it's still in her backyard.
She went to the bank with proof that she did not receive the amount she paid and the bank reversed the charge. Recently, she received a letter from the company's attorney accusing her of fraud and theft.
Anthony Austin called and texted Sean Jackrell, Premier Outdoor USA's director of operations and chief financial officer. He said his company is not responsible for these customer issues.
The next day, I received a letter from the company's attorney accusing me of preparing a “misleading and false” story. The letter further states:
“Mr. White owes an unpaid balance to Premier Outdoor. Notwithstanding the unpaid balance, Premier Outdoor has consistently communicated with Mr. White regarding the status of the order and worked to complete the order. Mr. White ordered an outdoor kitchen with a custom concrete countertop from Premier Outdoors. Upon receiving the custom countertop from the manufacturer, Premier Outdoors We determined that the concrete tabletop was substandard.”
White recently went to a premiere and snapped a photo of the outdoor kitchen. He showed Anthony the crack in the concrete countertop. He said he has not paid the remaining balance because the kitchen does not appear to be nearing completion.
The contract states that all payments are due one week prior to delivery.
White had been waiting nearly a year for a product he was told would take 12 to 16 weeks to complete. This is written in the contract as well. However, there was something strange about the contract.
It appears that the company used a template for car purchases. Next to the price for Mr. White's outdoor kitchen, it says “vehicle price.”
“At this point, I no longer want to do business with Premier Outdoor USA. All I want is a refund,” White said.
Premier Outdoor USA currently has an “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau. According to the BBB, the reason for its rating is that 41 complaints were filed against the company and four complaints were unresolved or unanswered.
We also asked the company's lawyers to respond to Patricia Wells' allegations. However, there was no response by the time this article was published.
