This is more than just a symbolic ribbon cutting.
As part of its grand opening event on Monday, June 24, the new Avocado's Kitchen, located at 1143 Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon, will donate 30 percent of all proceeds that day to the family of North Babylon High School graduate David Reisinger, whose mother died during the COVID-19 pandemic and whose father has terminal cancer.
“David and his three siblings hope to spend this difficult time in their family home and support each other,” Avocado Kitchen owner Paul Ferretti said in a Facebook post about the event. “The funds raised from our Grand Opening Celebration and 'GO FUND ME' fundraiser will be of great help to David as he begins a new phase of his life.”
Reisinger, 18, will graduate from high school this week, earning his diploma and completing his certified training as a welder at BOCES. He plans to work as a welder and help keep his family (he has three siblings) living in the family home.
The Avocado Kitchen fundraiser, along with an online fundraiser launched on GoFundMe.com, will complement Reisinger's efforts.
The grand opening event will begin at 1pm and continue until closing at 9pm. The restaurant's hours are 8am to 9pm on Sunday, 8am to 10pm Monday through Thursday, and 8am to 11pm on Friday and Saturday. Avocado Kitchen opened this spring.
