Ben Napier and Erin Napier's latest work home town This project was a huge hit among fans. This home in Laurel, Mississippi features a kitchen with a huge island and an attractive tile backsplash, and fans can't stop gushing over this project.
Erin shared photos of the home's dining room, living room, and kitchen on instagram. Ben built a 10-foot long, 40-inch wide oak “super island” for the kitchen. Built-in stone countertops, open shelving, drawers, and electrical outlets. There's custom he storage for cutting boards, rolling pins, mallets, spices, and anything else an avid cook might need. “This is something I've wanted to make for a long time,” Ben said in episode 14 of season 8.
Since the homeowners are Italian, Erin worked with artist Becchie Ferguson to create hand-painted Italian-inspired tiles in four different patterns for the kitchen backsplash. Erin mixed patterned and plain tiles to create a backsplash that resembled broken pottery shards. “We wanted it to look like it was imported.” [the tiles] from Italy [they’re] It's an antique, but it would cost a million dollars,” Erin joked during the episode, adding, “And we don't have a million dollars, but we do have Bekye.”
Fans flocked to the comments section of Erin's Instagram post to declare how much they loved her kitchen island and backsplash. One fan wrote, “Choosing between super islands and hand-painted tiles is a tough choice for my favorite!”
“I'm not a big fan of Tuscan design like the 90s, but I love this latest version,” another commented. “The worn hand-painted tiles, the really gorgeous old world island, the built-in bookcase with the arches. It's really nice.”
Another added: “I love everything about that island (literally and figuratively) and the spice holder at the top.”
One fan suggested Ben build more kitchen islands. “We think Ben should patent the design and sell millions of them,” they wrote. “I love it. It's the best thing Ben has ever made, and he's made some great furniture on the show.”
Erin agrees. “That island is the best thing that ever came out of a lumber mill,” she said in the episode.
It will be difficult to top the amazing job Ben and Erin have done on this project, and I'm sure they will continue to surprise and delight us.
