The Blacksburg Library will hold its first Kitchen Supply Swap on Saturday, April 27th from 1-3 p.m.
The free event is open to anyone in the community who can donate kitchen utensils, dishes, pots and pans, cooking utensils, baking dishes, utensils, Thingma Bobs and more, and who is in need of such items, according to a library news release. People can also participate.
According to the release, the purpose of Community Exchange is to encourage people to reduce waste and save money by exchanging gently used kitchen utensils and items with others.
To participate in the Community Exchange, participants are encouraged to bring gently used kitchen utensils to the library a week before or on the day of the event. All donated items must be clean, usable, and in good condition. Upon arriving at the exchange venue, participants can browse available items and get what they need for free.

“We want to make this event as accessible as possible,” says Kelly Corpus, library program coordinator. “No one should have to go out without basic supplies and we hope this event will help meet that need in our community. It helps provide a space to meet, give away items you no longer need, and find items you need for your new home.”
Any remaining items will be donated to the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program, according to the release.
The Blacksburg Library is located at 200 Miller Street.
