Blind Rabbit Kitchen is scheduled to open on May 1st.
A new restaurant will soon open in the space occupied by Pizza Volta at Sugar House in the same building as Wasatch Brew Pub.
Blind Rabbit Kitchen, which specializes in steaks and cocktails, is scheduled to open on Wednesday, May 1 at 1080 E. 2100 South, according to Instagram. The restaurant received a full-service liquor license at Thursday's meeting of the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services' Liquor Commission.
Videos and photos on Blind Rabbit Kitchen's Instagram show off a sleek yet cozy interior, with green walls, pendant lighting, and a seating area facing high windows. Above the bar is a mural of a blindfolded rabbit in the woods.
Pizza Volta closed in September of last year, less than a year after opening. That same month, the pizzeria's voicemail message read: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have made the difficult decision to close our restaurant. We are honored to serve you and our community.”
“Unfortunately, the current difficult market conditions do not allow us to continue our operations,” the message continued. “We apologize for the inconvenience.”
But the future of Pizza Volta, which offers a wide selection of made-to-order pizzas, salads, homemade desserts and cocktails, remained undecided. The last post on Instagram reads: “We hope to see more beautiful pizzas in our future, and you'll be the first to know about it.”
