Whiskey bar and eatery Bosscat Kitchen & Libations opened in The Woodlands in February 2023 by CEO John Reed. This whiskey bar was founded in California in 2014 and has locations in California and Houston.
The Houston store is located at South Houston and Market Street.
“We were one of the first whiskey bars to open in Southern California. We had a passion for whiskey and a passion for good American food. And to marry those two… We've found the right chef to partner with us,” Reid said. . ”
What makes it special?
Bosscat Kitchen & Libations was founded by Reed in 2014 with business partner and event manager Jennifer Moore.
Known for its extensive whiskey selection, this whiskey bar has transformed from a bar to a brunch place with an American menu and a stash of whiskeys.
“Brunch is really what people are starting to know about us,” Reed said.
Reed said Bosscat Kitchen & Libations originally served brunch only on weekends. However, due to its popularity, the restaurant plans to offer brunch every day starting in April.
Reed said Bosscat Kitchen & Libations' whiskey room, library, dining room, champagne room and outdoor patio offer a modern atmosphere perfect for an upscale, casual experience.

With approximately 300-350 whiskey, bourbon, and scotch options, Bosscat Kitchen & Libations offers a wide selection of whiskeys from around the world, including unique selections you won't find at your local liquor store.
Popular whiskeys include those from Kentucky and Japan.Bosscat Kitchen & Libations offers a selection of domestic and international whiskies, and offers happy hour Monday through Friday from 3pm to 6pm
The bar and restaurant also host private events for the community and local organizations. Organizations that Bosscat Kitchen & Libations is affiliated with include the American Heart Association, Meals on Wheel, and Mosaics of Mercy.
Menu you must try
Bosscat Kitchen & Libations specializes in American comfort food, but also focuses on incorporating international flavors.
“Our personal chef and my business partner have a strong Vietnamese influence, so we've fused American cuisine with other flavors,” Reed said.
Popular menu items include the chimichurri steak sandwich, JT bowl, and New Orleans-style beignets topped with powdered sugar and chocolate mocha coffee sauce.
The restaurant is also famous for its beef short ribs, which are slow-cooked for 12 hours and drizzled with a sweet black pepper sauce.
The restaurant's brunch menu includes savory, sweet, and healthy options, as well as mimosas and signature cocktails. Brunch favorites include short rib chilaquiles, smokehouse Benedict, Fruity Pebbles toast and country fried steak, Reed said.
