California Pizza Kitchen is offering customers half-price macaroni and cheese after a high-profile online ordering fiasco.
One TikTok user documented a series of unfortunate events that culminated in a botched order from the pizza chain, sharing that they ordered mac and cheese from the restaurant, but only received cheese.
The user said she called the restaurant about the mistake, but was told she'd ordered the wrong menu item.
“I called CPK and two representatives told me that the noodles should be ordered separately,” the user said.
The original video had been viewed 3.8 million times and had more than 520,000 likes as of Tuesday afternoon.
After the video went viral, CPK uploaded a video to its official TikTok page addressing the ordering mistake.
“Hey everyone, it's Chef Paul,” Paul Przybylski, CPK's vice president of culinary innovation, said in the video. “We've heard there's a little confusion about the correct way to make our mac and cheese, so we thought we'd share this video nationwide to make sure everyone knows the correct steps.”
Przybylski then breaks down the recipe and concludes the video by sharing a bonus.
“We were recently able to provide a customer with half a bag of mac and cheese, so starting today and for the rest of the month, we're offering all of our customers half-price mac and cheese,” he said.
CPK Restaurants has 200 locations nationwide, 55 of which are in California.
Customers can avail the offer by using the code “CHEESEANDMAC” on delivery or takeout orders.
To make up for the mistake, CPK sent the woman a box of items that included a certificate for free macaroni and cheese for a year, a box of pasta noodles, a certificate for free pizza for a year, and a letter from the company.
