(KTLA) – California Pizza Kitchen is offering customers a discount on macaroni and cheese after a highly publicized online ordering fiasco.
It all started after a TikTok user documented a series of unfortunate events after ordering mac and cheese from the pizza chain only ended up with half a package — just the cheese, to be exact.
“I called CPK and two people told me the noodles should be ordered separately and that my order was wrong,” the user claimed in the video.
The original video had garnered more than 4 million views and 550,000 likes as of Wednesday morning.
After the video went viral, CPK uploaded a video to its official TikTok page addressing the ordering mistake.
“Hey everyone, it's Chef Paul,” Paul Przybylski, CPK's vice president of culinary innovation, said in the video. “We've heard there's a little confusion about the correct way to make our mac and cheese, so we thought we'd share this video nationwide to make sure everyone knows the correct steps.”
Przybylski then walks viewers through a very basic version of the recipe and concludes the video with a bonus share.
“We were recently able to provide a customer with half a bag of mac and cheese, so starting today and for the rest of the month, we're offering all of our customers half-price mac and cheese,” he said.
CPK Restaurants has 200 locations nationwide, 55 of which are in California.
Customers can avail the offer by using the code “CHEESEANDMAC” on delivery or takeout orders.
To make up for the mistake, CPK sent the woman a box of souvenirs, including a letter from the company, a box of noodles, and a certificate for free pizza and macaroni and cheese for a year.
