The sole occupant of the vehicle was able to extricate himself prior to the arrival of Fire and Rescue personnel. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Falmouth Hospital. All occupants of the home, along with their pets, evacuated the structure with no injuries. Power, natural gas and water were secured. Additional resources were dispatched to the scene including our rescue ladders, Barnstable County Technical Rescue and Falmouth Inspection Services.
In preparation for the vehicle's removal, a technical team reinforced the damaged floor joists in the basement and Falmouth crews removed structural members around the area where the vehicle had entered the exterior wall. Utilities were also shut off by the various utility companies. The vehicle was safely removed from the building by Costas Auto Body at 5:38 AM.
“The home is uninhabitable and the town's inspection agency is working with the owner. Falmouth Police were on scene throughout the incident and are investigating the incident. We appreciate the assistance of all involved agencies, including Providence Canteen.” – Falmouth Police Department.
