GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Celebration Cinema has completed a $4 million renovation of its 15-screen theater near Kalamazoo Avenue in Gaines Township, adding luxurious heated recliners, a full kitchen and bar, It has new sound equipment and a laser projector.
The theater chain, which operates 11 theaters in West and Central Michigan, celebrated the completion of renovations with a grand opening of the theater on Monday, April 29. The theater, known as Celebration Cinema South, is located at 1506 Eastport. Dr.

Elements of the renovation include:
- Conversion into a luxurious heated recliner chair.
- Dolby Atmos sound and 4K laser projector installed in the “C Premium” auditorium. Premium auditorium tickets are an additional $2.
- A full kitchen and bar offer a full range of food and beverage options. This includes chicken sandwich sliders, loaded tater tots, pizza, nachos, and more. The renewal also includes the ability for customers to have food delivered to their seats, starting April 30th.
- Parts of the theater have new carpets, flooring, wallpaper, and paint.
Emily Rooks, Celebration Cinema's director of community affairs, said renovations began in January and the theater is only half open during the construction period.
Celebration Cinema is part of Studio C, a company founded by the Loeks family that also includes ShowSpan, a consumer show provider, and Midtown, a music venue at Studio Park in downtown Grand Rapids.
