BEVERLY, Mass. — A new Beverly restaurant from “Chopped” finalist and celebrity chef Alex Pineda is set to open Wednesday.
A grand opening celebration for Qué Mas is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Qué Mas will open in the former Frank restaurant space at 114 Rantoul Street.

Pineda said the new restaurant will serve “modern Latin cuisine” with influences from South America, Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala and Peru.
Pineda is the son of Lydia Shire, owner of the famed Scampo restaurant, and was also chef at The Landing in Marblehead.
“I've learned to be bold,” he said. “I've learned to be fearless. We're taking over the restaurant space formerly known as Frank's, putting our stamp on it, and officially opening this summer.”
The centerpiece of Qué Mas is a display case housing tins of sardines from around the world that Pineda and Shire have collected over 25 years.
He said Que Mas' goal is to push the boundaries of what's on the plate, how it's presented and how customers feel after eating it.
“The great thing about being a chef is the opportunities are endless,” he says. “I just want to make good food and have fun doing it. And I think that's because Latin culture is fun, loud, sexy, beautiful, vibrant, the music is great, the food is great.”
Also opening Wednesday in the building at 112 Rantoul St. is The Bottle Shop, a specialty wine and liquor store with fine wines, spirits, craft beer and grab-and-go items.
The Bottle Shop will be relocating to the location formerly known as DeVille.
“We're excited to open The Bottle Shop as a destination for fine beverages and unique market finds,” said owner Alex Weatherup. “Our collection of wines and spirits grows every week, as do our retail and market offerings. The world of wine is vast and sometimes inaccessible, and we love helping collectors find rare and special bottles, but we also love finding the perfect bottle to sip every night.”
“Simply put, we're happy to have the opportunity to help you find what you're looking for.”
