The Los Angeles Chargers may have won an unofficial 2024 schedule release video contest with a “The Sims”-themed video, and in the process, they'll give their respective opponents a win for the upcoming campaign. attacked subtly. But one man in particular fared pretty badly, and that would be Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker.
Butker has been in the news recently for making some very controversial comments about women getting college degrees, so the Chargers decided to use that to their advantage here. At the end of the video, Butker was seen in the kitchen. make pizzathis was a pretty blatant act of trolling after his comments earned him quite a bit of backlash.
Harrison Butker continues to come under fire for his latest controversial comments
Butker has never been afraid to express controversial opinions, and he did so again this past weekend when he gave a commencement speech at Benedictine College in Kansas. Rather than give his students advice on how to approach the next stage of their lives, Butker went on a bizarre rant about many of the opinions he held, and understandably so. Many of them failed to resonate with fans.
Most notably, Butker spoke about how graduating women have been made to believe “egregious lies” about their college education. He believes that some of them will be successful in their professional careers, but basically said that for many of them the main goal in life is to become a housewife.
Butker's observations and eye-rolling comments are no joke in and of themselves, but the Chargers found a clever way to get the talented kicker to bite into his words. Their video shows that while having Butker bake pizza may seem innocuous, it does what he thinks all women should do: stay home and cook meals for their families. I'm letting him do it.
As if the Chargers video didn't already have enough buzz, many fans who disagreed with Butker's comments were praising their biggest roast yet. Los Angeles probably didn't need much of a reason to rough him up, considering the way Butker kicks against their AFC West rival Chiefs, so once he gave them the ammunition they needed, they took it. This video shows me running with it.
The NFL has already distanced itself from Butker and his comments, and while it's unlikely he'll be released based on what he said, he's not going to be released by fans, especially now that the Chargers are in on the fun. It will continue to flare up. Los Angeles made sure to roast everyone possible in the video, but it's clear Butker took the worst beating of them all, and fans are loving it.
