So, where can you get local produce until Marco Island Market closes and the snowbirds return? (Why is that?)? Our big-box grocery stores are doing much better with Florida-grown produce. Look for “fresh”. FROM Florida” logo when you shop at Publix or The Fresh Market.
Outside of large grocery stores, we recommend shopping at South Naples Citrus Grove, located at 341 Sabal Palm Road. This week's recipe celebrates the start of spring and watermelon season.
If you don't want to handle a whole watermelon, look for one that's already cut or sliced. Put the watermelon in the bowlFresh arugula, Florida blueberries, crumbled feta, and pistachios.In a jar with a tight-fitting lid, add 1 tablespoon local honey, 1 teaspoon mustard (any kind other than yellow), two 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 1 clove of grated garlic. Cover and shake together. then in addition half cup (±according to your taste) good quality olive oil and a little salt and Season with pepper and shake again.Pour this simple vinaigrette over watermelon salad and enjoy!
