BALTIMORE — Fried chicken restaurant Chick-fil-A is getting into the pizza business with a test kitchen in Maryland, it was announced this week.
The restaurant introduced pizza on March 18, but did not say whether it would expand the trial. Contrary to the “Eat Mor Chickin” slogan, test ingredients included pepperoni, sausage, and chorizo.
Customers lucky enough to visit Chik-Fil-A's Little Blue Menu kitchen in College Park can choose from five types of pies:
- Chick-fil-A pizza pie: Top with chopped Chick-fil-A nuggets and serve with Chick-fil-A sauce and pickles
- Buffalo Ranch Pizza Pie: Top with chopped Chick-fil-A nuggets, buffalo sauce, homemade ranch dressing, and sprinkle with lemon pepper seasoning.
- Cheese pizza pie: How could you mistake it for mozzarella cheese?
- Pepperoni pizza pie: Just pepperoni.
- Meat and vegetable pizza pie: Top with pepperoni, sliced sausage, chorizo, meatballs, mushrooms, and assorted red peppers.
The test kitchen also offers pepperoni pizza rounds, a version of a calzone. Click here to learn more about the new service.
The kitchen is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“As an innovative kitchen brand, we're always thinking about what our customers want in order to better serve them,” Stuart Tracey, senior culinary lead developer, said in a statement. Stated. “We noticed that our customers were getting creative with his Chick-fil-A ingredients on their pizzas at home, so we decided to jump on that too. You already know the taste, so you need love before you take a bite.”
