Strictly speaking, when you hear about a semi-truck in a day cab configuration, that means it doesn't have a sleeper cabin. They are also typically more fuel efficient and more maneuverable in traffic than sleeper cab models.

Of course, you can customize your day cab semi to feature a custom sleeper configuration, but doing so will almost certainly not be cheap (especially if it means buying a new truck). Case in point, his 2023 Peterbilt 389 day cab (now a custom sleeper) sold for a total of $409,900, which is about what you'd pay for a new Ferrari of his Pro Sangue today.
So what is it?new ferrari SUV Or a nice Peterbilt cicada that you can live with? You could even buy a Rolls-Royce Specter with that money. It will certainly be a more comfortable experience compared to Purosangue, but it will still not be as comfortable as a house on wheels.
The 389 is the successor to Peterbilt's wildly popular model 379, replacing the latter in 2007. It is easily distinguished by its upgraded headlights (oval clusters) and long bonnet. In fact, the 389 has the longest hood ever installed on a traditional Peterbilt semi. Fun fact for you.
With that out of the way, let's take a closer look at this black 2023 Peterbilt 389. As mentioned earlier, despite the day cab tractor setup, it packs a custom sleeper configuration in the rear. It also features chrome accents, dual 26-inch fuel tanks (150 gallons each), low air-leaf suspension, and a massive 356-inch (9 meters long) wheelbase. This is even bigger than the custom 379 with camper conversion that we showed you last week.
Inside, you'll find plenty of modern amenities, including leather driver and passenger seats, sat-nav, air conditioning, and a digital driver's display.
Of particular interest is what happens behind the scenes. The 168-inch (4.26-meter) sleeping section includes a fully equipped kitchen, toilet, and sleeping area with bunk beds. There's a sink, microwave, full-sized refrigerator, toilet with shower, and even a flat screen TV to watch your favorite movies (maybe “Over the Top” and “Duel”).
Anyway, I could easily live in this Peterbilt full time, and all things considered, it's much better than the custom 379 I mentioned earlier. Again, its price is only $62,500.
As for what this brand new semi can do in terms of performance, we know it has a Cummins X15 turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine; But what we don't know is whether this is the X15 Productivity series, the Efficiency series, or the X15 Performance series. In any case, his capable 18-speed transmission probably makes him more than 500 horsepower and more than 1,650 lb-ft (2,237 Nm) of torque.
