The iconic Peterbilt 379 has long earned its stripes as a quintessential American icon, blending power, durability and style in equal measure. It served as a direct successor to the equally iconic 359 series, serving as the company's flagship product and direct competitor to the Kenworth W900 for decades.

When introduced, it became Peterbilt's largest highway-only semi-truck. Also, just look at the larger windshield (with horizontally mounted wipers) and headlamp-mounted turn signals, rather than fender-mounted like on previous models, and the 359 and You can also differentiate.
Oh, and in case you're not familiar with the design, a Peterbilt 379 was used as Optimus Prime in vehicle form during the filming of Michael Bay's first Transformers movie.
The Peterbilt 379, along with the Kenworth W900, ranks as one of the most beautiful semi-trucks ever built. Both look much better than any long-hood Freightliner or Mack I can think of. Again, this is just a personal preference type of thing as far as I'm concerned.
Anyway, what we have here is a modified 2007 vehicle with a camper van cabin. These new 379s aren't as gorgeous as the older models, but they still have their own personalities.
This so-called Peterbilt 379 camper went up for auction a few weeks ago, and the winning bid was $62,500. That's about the same amount you would spend on a new 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Of course, the Mustang doesn't come with a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, right?
Visual highlights of this semi-truck include an all-white exterior, chrome accents, roof-mounted air horn, tow mirror, clearance lights, equipment box, rear wheel housing, fifth-wheel hitch, and polished 24.5 Includes a set of inch wheels. Equipped with 11R24.5 tires. This thing has a wheelbase of 312 inches (7.92 meters), which is pretty huge.
Meanwhile, the camper cabin comes with a rear entry door, sliding side windows, ambient lighting, and a roof-mounted air deflector.

Inside the cab, you'll find a black vinyl captain's chair (power-adjustable driver's seat), tan dashboard and door panels, black rubber floor mats, woodgrain accents, power door locks, air conditioning, and flame design. Equipped with pedals and a wooden seat. -Rimmed steering wheel, Cobra CB radio, Pioneer CD stereo.
The camper/RV section, also known as the living area, features wood-grain vinyl flooring, overhead lighting, power ceiling vents, air conditioning, and ceiling-mounted speakers. The kitchen area features composite countertops, a stainless steel sink, microwave, and refrigerator. There is also a sleeping area with a thick and comfortable-looking mattress, and the adjoining wet bathroom has a shower with fixed sprayer, soap dispenser and cassette toilet.
What's going on under the hood is also somewhat impressive. It's powered by his 15.2-liter Caterpillar C15 turbodiesel inline-six engine, factory rated at 475 horsepower, all sent to the rear wheels through his 18-speed manual gearbox.
