Sands Kitchen, the Chinese street food restaurant that started as a ghost kitchen and charmed fans across Charlotte with its colorful dumplings, has opened in a new space in the South End.
The restaurant is now located just a short walk from the New Bern light rail station and around the corner from the new Cookie Plug shop.
Owner Brian Sun says the best part of moving from The City Kitch to a bright, modern space that reflects Shanghai architecture is that he and his staff can now interact with customers in a hands-on manner. That's what he said.
“We will be meeting for the first time customers who have been ordering from us for years,” Sun said.
Now, when you walk in, you can order at a kiosk or use a QR code to sit and view the menu. You'll probably see Sun coming in and out of the kitchen, chatting and bringing orders. You can also peek into the kitchen through a large opening and watch the staff prepare vegetables and pack them into takeout packages.
