After atop the leaderboard all season, sisters Taylor and Elle finally took the fall on Sunday night's episode. Dream Home. The duo decided to take on four spaces this week, tackling the laundry, powder room, butler room and kitchen remodels with vigor.
While each room was praised for its beauty and use of stone and gold, the judges criticized the lack of functionality and overall design of the kitchen, which features expansive striped stone countertops and splashback, a large island bench with stovetop, and a sink tucked away in a corner next to the entrance to the butler's pantry.

“I've never seen a kitchen with so many stripes in my life,” commented Lana Taylor.
“I was immediately disappointed,” Rosie Morley said. “There are ways to use lots of stone, but I don't think it would have worked here.”
“It's like being in a stone factory,” said Simon Cohen, to which Rosie replied, “It's like being in a quarry.”
The judges also disapproved of two lights being placed in the centre of the front of the splashback, the impractical placement of the sink and the lack of visible seams.
“The unfortunate thing is [the sink] “After the fridge, the dishwasher is probably the most used item in the kitchen, but here we don't even have space to wash dishes,” Lana elaborates. “It's in the corner, so it's too far away.”
“This whole wall could have been beautiful woodwork with glass panels,” Simon added. “There's too much stone. I think it's too bold.”
Viewers slam 'bland and boring' kitchen
Viewers took to social media to share their thoughts about the kitchen, with many noting that it resembled a morgue.
“The wall-to-wall stone kitchen reminds me of a morgue. The island looks like a slab for bodies to lie on,” one person posted to X.
“That kitchen looks like a mausoleum. What on earth were Taylor and Elle thinking?” another user added.
“Nooo, I don't like my sisters' kitchen,” a third wrote, while another called it “bland and boring.”

“It's tough when your hard work goes unrewarded,” they say. “We fought really hard for our kitchen and had strong belief in the design.”
