A woman shares a clever way to keep flies out of your kitchen. It doesn't cost a penny. The weather is (slowly) getting warmer, and with it the opportunity to open doors and windows more often, but unfortunately this can invite unwanted guests like flies.
The unpleasant buzzing sounds they make as they fly around the room are annoying enough for anyone. But one woman believes she has found a solution to preventing these insects from invading the kitchen, and her ingenious method cost her nothing. However, I needed a few coins.
In the Facebook group 'Hinch Army Cleaning Tips', a woman shared how to keep flies away, the Mirror reported. She posted a photo of a clear plastic bag hanging from her kitchen window. Inside the bag are water and 6 shiny pennies.

She explained: “I saw someone post about a bag of water and coins to stop flies and thought I'd give it a try. We always have about 5 or 6 small flies in the middle of the kitchen. There are flies flying around. It's very annoying. I haven't had a single fly in the kitchen since I put the bag down, which is great.”
Her post quickly gained attention and many people were curious about how it works. She did some research on this subject to provide her answer.
She claims: She says, “Water and pennies create a prism that reflects colors and also projects an image of water. Flies hate water, and they hate the colors emitted by pennies.”
Continuing, she said: “Flies have compound eyes, so the bag looks like a huge body of water to the fly, so the fly leaves.”
However, the effectiveness of this method is debatable. However, many commenters claimed that when they tested it, there were no flies in the house.
One respondent happily reported, “I've been up since 9am and still no new flies in the house. So far so good!!”, while another user added: “This trick works outdoors too!” I have one hanging on my balcony and the flies are gone.
Another added: “This is amazing. I'm going to try it.”
Another user suggested a different approach, suggesting hanging coke bags mixed with sugar or honey outside to deter wasps.
