It's very common to get a glimpse into the life of a singer-songwriter through their music and lyrics, but having such an experience through food is rare other than a fancy meal or being invited into someone's home.
Athens will soon have the opportunity to walk the culinary journey of a local chef who started in Georgia, traveled around the world, and came back again.
Chef Eve's Kitchen will be holding a Spring Taster on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Classic City Kitchen, 655 Hawthorne Ave., Unit C. This event is free and open to the public, and guests will have the opportunity to sample some of the owners' wines. – Operator Eve Kim will serve up the best-selling dishes from a menu of Asian and international cuisine prepared with a distinctly Southern twist.

Born in Florida and raised in Georgia, Kim started cooking for her parents and siblings in the Atlanta area at the age of 10. His cooking was traditional Southern style, but later in life when Kim moved to South Korea for a teaching job, he found himself in a bit of a dilemma as he couldn't find the ingredients to cook for himself. After eating out with his colleagues, Mr. Kim became obsessed with Korean food and began developing his own recipes.
“I've never taken a cooking class or anything like that,” Kim told the Banner-Herald. “I grew up cooking for a lot of people, but when I got to Seoul I almost had a mental breakdown and couldn’t buy the things I needed to make soul food. , I ended up learning how to cook Asian food, my own Southern way.”
After living overseas for six years, Kim returned to the United States for nine months as executive chef at her parents' restaurant, Nefetari's, in Tallahassee, Florida. There, Kim learned food preparation, handling, safety, presentation, and service in a professional environment, and after returning to the United States with her husband in 2016 and settling in Jefferson, Georgia, she became a chef Eves decided to start her own kitchen.
At the spring taster event, Kim plans to offer samples of his best-selling menu items, including Bang Bang Chicken, Beef Bulgogi Japchae, and Pork Kimchi Soup. For vegetarians, a meatless version of Japchae is also available. Alcohol-free punch will be provided at Taster, but guests can also bring their own drinks.
Because Chef Eve's Kitchen is not a brick-and-mortar restaurant, Kim partnered with Classic City Kitchen owners Mark Denning and Cody Rath to prepare all menu items on-site and serve customers. is available on a to-go basis wherever you order.
