A popular Italian restaurant in Hanover Township, Northampton County, has closed indefinitely after a fire Sunday morning.
According to Northampton County dispatchers, just after 9 a.m. about 10 fire units, including the Hanover Township Fire Department, responded to the blaze at Nonna Surina's Sicilian Kitchen & Grill, located at 5000 Bath Pike.
Firefighters reported the blaze was under control around 10:45 a.m.
Nonna Surina's will be closed until further notice, according to a Facebook post posted just before 10 a.m. Sunday. The post also said Nonna's Italian Market will also be closed, but will reopen on Tuesday.
“Please know this decision was made with your safety and health in mind,” the post read. “We are actively addressing the situation and will provide updates as soon as possible.”
State police are investigating the fire.
The restaurant, Hanover Township Fire Chief Scott Van Why and state police did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
