A kitchen and a garage might not seem to have much in common (one is a place to prepare food and entertain guests, the other is, after all, a place to practice DIY and fix your car), but Giada De Laurentiis has bridged an unlikely gap between the two spaces that will make you wonder why no one thought of it before.
With famous chefs Jada at home The star broke pantry convention by bringing this storage solution outside of the kitchen (and surrounding rooms) into her garage, and while it's an unlikely location, it's acknowledged as one of her favorite spots in her home.
“I realized I hadn't shared with you all yet one of my favorite places in my house: my Giadzy pantry,” says De Laurentiis, whose Italian lifestyle brand, Giadzy, offers everything from online recipes to travel tips and real food, which lines the shelves of her garage pantry.
“I'm going to a birthday party tonight and one of my favorite things to do is make my own boxes from my own Giadzy stock that I keep in the garage. I love a well-organized pantry,” she wrote. So what do celebrities like De Laurentiis keep in their pantries?
“There are cookbooks here, so I'll choose a variety of pastas.” [We have] We have a wide range of lengths, from extra long to short. [Also] “I think my olive oil is very attractive,” she comments, as the Italian-themed shelves are equally neatly arranged with tomatoes, ceramics, olives, flour, cookies, jams, candies and chocolates.
By creating a pantry in her garage, De Laurentiis is a reminder to use the space around our homes wisely. Even if your garage is outside or not connected to the main home, that shouldn't stop you from considering it as a place to store your groceries (after all, it's tempting to buy in bulk, especially when the food is as beautiful and delicious as what's in De Laurentiis' pantry).
In addition to thinking outside the box when it comes to space, kitchen designer Tom Howley recommends taking the height of your space into consideration.
“By utilising the full height of the room and the depth of the cabinets, every bit of space can be utilised, and by using smart hinges the doors can open up to 180 degrees, making them easier to reach and maximising light – perfect for dark corners,” he explains.
Arranging your shelves in an orderly way can also help you make the most of the space in your pantry. Here are some essentials we swear by, no matter where your pantry is located:
