Spa-like spaces in the home are usually reserved for the bathroom. It's no wonder that as rooms for bathing and body care, the design and amenities are often modeled after the spa itself, with fluffy towels, scented candles, and neutral-colored décor.
Always an innovator in the health and wellness field, Gwyneth Paltrow has proven that her kitchen can be just as quiet as her spa.In her recent video posted to her Instagram account, she chatted with Goop founder The talented Mr. Ripley The star showed off her bright white studio kitchen, which is airy and bright.
“Cooking is therapeutic for me,” Paltrow wrote in the caption. “I set up the shop, taste-tested and tweaked the recipes, and the aromas that emerged as the flavors melded were meditative. I wanted this studio kitchen to have a tranquil, spa-like feel.”
White kitchens are eternally popular due to their clean look and versatility in decor. But a (sometimes) chaotic space like your kitchen can unintentionally turn into an oasis.
“White's calming properties make it a natural fit for any quiet space,” says Jennifer Evert, digital editor at Homes & Gardens. “Gwyneth Paltrow pairs this muted color scheme with an open-plan kitchen, further enhancing the spacious and calming atmosphere.”
Although not every home can afford a studio-style kitchen due to various size constraints, Evert recommends a few tips for making your kitchen as spacious and airy as possible. I am.
“A kitchen island creates clean lines in the kitchen while also providing space for storage, prep, and even seating,” says Evert. “The use of luxurious materials like marble takes things to the next level. While keeping clutter to a minimum, the luxurious finishes create an atmosphere reminiscent of a relaxing and sophisticated spa space. ”
When thinking about how to make your kitchen more relaxing, lighting is also an important element to keep the space zen.
“Dimmable lighting is key to a calming kitchen,” explains Evert. “Hard overhead lighting will only further accentuate a sometimes high-stress room, so ambient lighting is best. For a softer impression, try a table lamp.
Finally, as with white rooms, using different textures can enhance the cozy (and therefore calming) feel of the room.
“The subtle brass fixtures of Paltrow's stove burners, as well as the wood floors and cutting boards, can create a balanced sense of coolness and warmth at the same time,” Ebert explains.
