Half of Gen Zers believe their kitchen ovens will become outdated after switching to air fryers, according to the survey.
The poll of 2,000 adults found that 53% of 18-24 year olds expect the end of the kitchen mainstay to be imminent.
This opinion was shared by 4 in 10 people overall, suggesting that the air fryer revolution is here to stay.
It was revealed that 48% of all adults will cut their oven use in half from 2022 onwards, switching to air cookers instead.
The results showed that even though 63% had no idea how much it costs to run an air fryer, 23% noticed a reduction in their utility bills.
“Who would have thought that an energy supplier would trigger a consumer trend that would see the oven, a kitchen staple since the 1930s, as outdated?” said Bill Bullen, founder and CEO of Utilita, which commissioned the study.
“Since 2003, our technology has been helping people reduce energy waste in their homes by taking actionable steps and fine-tuning their behavior.
“We will continue to invest in research to further educate households on the most efficient and ultimately cheapest ways to cook.”
With an average reduction in oven usage of 48 per cent, using an air fryer could save households £31.55 a year.
Across the 9.8 million households that own an air fryer, this translates into savings of £309 million per year, enough to cover the annual heating bills of 450,000 homes.
The avoided carbon emissions from reducing oven use by 48 percent would be the equivalent of 350,000 tonnes of CO2 per year – the equivalent of a standard car driving around the Earth 52,000 times or 3.5 round trips from Earth to Mars.
The survey also found that the typical air fryer owner will spend an average of £110 on their new kitchen addition, with 53 per cent opting for the medium model.
Before making a purchase, 19% of people had no idea what type of appliance to choose.
But after making their choice, 29% plan to upgrade to a bigger and better version.
When it comes to maintenance, 32% are confident they clean it regularly, while 34% admit to being completely clueless about looking after their machine.
OnePoll data also revealed that 43% of people often tell friends and family about cooking with an air fryer, and 35% regularly recommend it to others.
A quarter of parents have enjoyed watching a program about Rapid Air Ovens and 12% have taught their children how to use a Rapid Air Oven.
