Small accommodations at expensive prices are not uncommon in New York City. But people expressed outrage online after a real estate agent showed him what he thought was the “smallest” apartment in New York City.
Real estate agent Omar Lubbock works for a real estate company called Douglas Elliman. He shared an Instagram reel documenting the main features of the laughably small space, which costs $1,200 a month to rent.
The building was located in midtown Manhattan, and the microscope rental was on the third floor.
When he opens the door to his apartment, he sees a small, narrow room with nothing in it except a white wardrobe. He had one window with a view of the fire escape and other buildings.
I then photographed myself with my arms outstretched to show that the room was not much larger than I could reach.
He could almost touch both walls. The apartment clearly lacked necessities such as a bathroom and kitchen.
“Now, you're probably wondering where the bathroom is, so let's check. You have to go outside the apartment and into this common space,” Omar explained.
He then left the apartment and walked down the hallway to the communal bathroom. It had white tiled walls and floors, and was equipped with a sink, toilet, and shower. “Do you want to live here?” Omar wrote in the video's caption.
Many users say they don't think so. They flocked to the comments section to share their frustrations with the tiny apartment.
