A Boston-area chef who has appeared on cooking shows like “Hell's Kitchen” and “Bar Rescue” is opening a new chicken restaurant that will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Chef Jason Santos, of Boston staples Citrus & Salt, Nash Bar, and Buttermilk & Bourbon, will open his newest restaurant, Butterbird, on Saturday, June 29th at Arsenal Yards in Watertown.
The fast-casual chicken concept allows customers to order takeout or sit down to dine inside or on the outdoor patio, and ButterBird also offers catering options.
“We noticed that many of Buttermilk & Bourbon's customers would dine in our restaurant and then order takeout to enjoy a second meal at home the next day, so we knew we needed to expand our takeout and counter-service dining options at Arsenal Yard,” Santos said in a press release. “Creating Butterbird solved that challenge by giving our customers what they already wanted every day in a fun, casual atmosphere.”
Highlights from the all-day menu include customizable breakfast burritos, French toast sticks, and Santos' signature biscuits and brioche rolls. Tater tot bowls with toppings like bacon, gravy, and avocado are also available.
Butterbird's lunch and dinner menu includes fried chicken sandwiches, chicken “tendies,” flamin' hot corn ribs, salads, and black truffle macaroni and cheese. For dessert, try the made-to-order beignets or Southern fried butterscotch apple pie pockets.
Customers can also submit their own chicken sandwich for a chance to be featured on Butterbird's monthly rotating menu. Entries can be submitted on the Butterbird website.
The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 8am to 8pm and Friday and Saturday from 8am to 9pm, and customers can order ahead online.
ButterBird is located at 112 Bond Square in Arsenal Yards in Watertown.
