GreenPan cookware was introduced to the U.S. market in 2007 by two childhood friends, Jan Helskens and Wim De Veirman, as an alternative to traditional nonstick cookware. Since its inception, this ceramic nonstick cookware company has developed many product lines of pots and pans, and recently launched a line of kitchen appliances as well.
At Good Housekeeping Institute's Kitchen Appliances and Innovation Lab, we've tested all kinds of pots and pans, including stainless steel, carbon steel, cast iron, and Dutch ovens. Over the past 10 years alone, we've tested over 100 of his cookware pieces (both sets and individual items). Over the past two and a half years, as a review analyst, I've personally tested a number of GreenPan's pots and pans.

The company currently has seven different cookware lines in its portfolio. In fact, it has the widest variety of nonstick ceramic pots and pans from the same brand.
This means there are options in construction, price range, and appearance, but it can be confusing to decide which line is right for you. In this article, we've narrowed the field down to GreenPan's top four cookware. We have rigorously tested each one. Keep reading to see how they compare.
Is GreenPan cookware safe?
GreenPan currently manufactures cookware with one of three proprietary nonstick ceramic coatings: Infinite8 Ceramic Nonstick, Thermolon Advance or Thermolon. The Infinite8 Ceramic Nonstick Coating is exclusive to the GP5 collection and is, according to the brand, its most advanced ceramic coating. Safe for metal utensils and designed to last longer than other coatings. According to the brand, Thermolon Advanced coating is safe for metal cookware, but Thermolon coating is not safe.
The majority of GreenPan cookware uses Thermolon coating. According to the manufacturer, Thermolon coatings are made from sand and are made from PFAS (PFAS are perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl artificial chemicals widely used in various industries for their resistance to heat, grease, and water. manufactured without the use of lead, lead, or cadmium. Although research on nonstick coatings is still ongoing, the absence of PFAS (also known as “forever chemicals” due to their long lifespan) in nonstick cookware has become a selling point for some consumers. I am. According to the EPA, “Scientific studies have shown that exposure to some PFAS in the environment may be associated with harmful effects on human and animal health.” ”
The company shares that Thermolon has been third-party tested and “certified as safe according to the standards of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Germany's LFGB, the Swiss Government, and KTR.” You can check.
This means that GreenPan cookware is currently known to be safe. As with all non-stick cookware, it is generally recommended to use it as intended over medium heat or lower. Recycle your Greenpan cookware If it gets scratched, starts to chip, or stops sticking.
How to test GreenPan cookware
The Good Housekeeping Institute's Kitchen Appliances and Innovation Lab has been testing nonstick cookware (both ceramic and traditional nonstick) for years. When we test nonstick cookware, including GreenPan, we look at how evenly the cookware heats and how well it cooks eggs, sears steaks, simmers tomato sauce, and boils water. Why does food stick to GreenPan?
Food can get stuck on nonstick ceramic cookware if the cookware is not used, cared for, and cleaned properly. There are several factors to consider to ensure you get the best results from your GreenPan cookware.
✔️ Check the cooking temperature: Ceramic cookware tends to reach higher temperatures than traditional nonstick cookware, and often heats up faster. For best results, it should be used on low heat (low to medium heat is recommended). Overheating pots and pans can affect the lifespan of your cookware. High heat can damage the ceramic coating and cause it to lose its nonstick properties sooner than intended.
✔️Check your cookware: When cooking with ceramic utensils, use silicone or wood utensils to avoid scratching the non-stick coating. Although some of GreenPan's coatings are listed as safe for metal utensils, we still recommend using these soft utensils. Scratches can shorten the life of your cookware and increase the pot's ability to stick. Food can get caught in the scratches, increasing wear and tear, and materials from the cookware's coating can also leach into the food.
✔️ Cook with fat: When using cooking utensils, be sure to add cooking oil or butter. Make sure your cookware is covered with fat and that the fat is warm before adding ingredients. Avoid using cooking spray. Cooking sprays can damage the pan coating because it burns too quickly and gradually builds up on the pan coating, reducing its nonstick effectiveness.
✔️Please wash your hands: Although many brands say it's safe to put nonstick cookware in the dishwasher, we recommend hand-washing nonstick products, especially ceramic ones, to extend the life of the nonstick coating. Recommended.
✔️ Replace if necessary: keep Keep in mind that GreenPan cookware won't last forever. Over time, food will begin to stick. If your cookware no longer works as expected, you can also recycle it and purchase new GreenPan cookware to replace it.
